Abstract
Due to improvement of medical technology and knowledge, entry barriers to medical practice in every medical field are getting higher. Hence, this makes a quicker and more professional solution to a patient¡¯s medical problem. However, most patients have more than a single problem that needs to be seen by multiple specialists. This inevitably leads to inefficiency in total care of the paitient. Most institutions resolve this problem by having a straightforward consult system. A letter is written to the doctor of a department which the patient needs to be seen. Many hospitals are putting their effort to maximize the efficacy and efficiency of this system. This includes taking a closer look at why patients usually require medical attention from a certain department. In this context, this study aims to analyze five-year records of patients referred for consultation to the department of plastic and reconstructive surgery, and look if there is a chronologic or interdepartmental correlation between them.
